| The iPod almost single-handedly
created the podcast phenomenon, but you don't need an iPod or
even an off-brand MP3-player to make podcasts. With a
PC and a simple microphone, you can make digital audio recordings
and publish them for all the world to hear on the web. |
|
| A
podcast can be an interview, a recitation, a "radio play,"
a broadcast, a newscast, a book review... whatever you want
it to be. |
Here are the steps involved
in creating your own podcast:
- Create a script;
- Practice your script; speak slowly and clearly;
- Plug in a mic (you may borrow headsets with mics from the librarian);
- Launch an application like Audacity, or use the narration feature
from Movie Maker or another similar program;
- Record your voice and save the recording as an MP3 file;
- Edit your recording, get rid of the pauses, coughs, uhms and
ahs;
- Add copyright-free music if you like at the beginning or end;
- Upload to a sharing site such as OurMedia.
