Distinguished Alumnus Award 2005

Our distinguished Alumni Award is given this year to an individual who has distinguished himself through his work and exemplifies the ideals that represent St Pius X Catholic High School.

Our honoree graduated from St Pius X in 1984. He is the son of Dick and Ann Suever and was preceded by 5 sisters and two brothers into the ranks of Pius Alumni. From 1968 until 1984 there was a Suever at St Pius. His mother Ann was the “bookstore lady” at St. Pius for many years until she retired in 1984. His father Dick was in the banking business and now serves as a deacon at Holy Cross Church.

Jay went on to graduate with a degree in Architecture in 1988 from Southern College of Technology. He put himself through college, working summers in construction and then dedicating the rest of the year to his studies. In 1988, he took his first job and he began his architectural internship. To date, he has worked on jobs throughout the United States and in several foreign countries.

When MSTSD was chosen as the Architectural firm for the Building on Faith project, Jay was tapped to lead the design and engineering team for this complex undertaking. He brought together his knowledge of the campus, the extensive research compiled for this project by all of the members of the St. Pius Community, and his keen eye for the new aesthetic of campus and produced a seamless design that is home for the next generation of St. Pius students. We appreciate the attention to this project that Mr. Suever has brought, our campus is beautiful and functional, with spaces that are distinctive and perfectly suited to their use.

Mr. Suever is currently is employed as an Associate at HKS, the Dallas based firm that recently opened an Atlanta office.

"I have yet to work on a project which has meant as much to me personally as the one just completed at St. Pius."he said. His remarks to the Class of 2005 recounted his experiences at St. Pius and the lifelong friendships he has with his classmates
