How many openings are in a particular grade?
Our
ninth grade class usually numbers 260. In other grades, we have
limited openings due to attrition. We only accept twelfth
grade students who are transferring from Catholic schools out of
state.
How many students apply for these openings?
The
number varies from year to year. However, we usually have many
more qualified applicants than we are able to accept.
What SSAT scores are acceptable for admission
to St. Pius X?
Although test scores are one important part of the
admission process, they are never the sole basis for a decision.
Grades,
recommendations from teachers, activities and comments from the
principals are all used in making admissions decisions.
Who makes the decisions?
Our admissions committee
is comprised of administrators, counselors, and teachers. This
committee recommends students for admission
to the principal.
Does it help if my child is involved in extracurricular
activities?
Yes. Because our intention is to develop the total
person, we seek students who will benefit from and become involved
in a variety
of activities. Therefore it is helpful if an applicant is active
in extracurricular activities.
Are siblings and applicants whose parents are
St. Pius X alumni given preference for admission?
They are not
guaranteed a place, but are given extra consideration.
